Exclusive Salta excursion

Enjoy the culture & nature of the Valle Calchaquíes.

Together with our English speaking private guide, a real “salteño”, we have created an exclusive excursion of several days into the amazing Valle Calchaquíes in the South of the Salta province. You will be enjoying the magnificent (indigenous) culture and nature of this unique region of Argentina.

The minimum number of participants is 2. The excursion is especially interesting for nature and culture lovers. For the light hikes you need a normal physical condition.

Day 1 | Salta – Cafayate

Our private guide picks you up in your hotel in Salta. You will travel the coming days in a comfortable car through the Calchaquíes Valley. Today you will go south, towards the town of Cafayate. You will have lunch at a special posada where they will show you how they make their own goat cheese. In the afternoon you will make some short walks with your guide in the Quebrada de las Conchas. Around 18 hours you will arrive in the wine town Cafayate, where you will stay in a beautiful and stylish hosteria or hotel.

Day 2 | Cafayate – Cafayate

After breakfast in the hosteria you will of course visit one of the wine bodegas of Cafayate. After this you make a hike (2 hours) in Divisaderos, outside Cafayate. You will have a lunch under the algarrobo tree, near one of the cascades. After lunch you will head to the Quilmes ruins (which offer the nicest views in the light of the afternoon). Here you will make a short walk. In the late afternoon you will return in Cafayate. In the evening you can have a good meal at the main square of this pleasant town.

Day 3 | Cafayate – La Paya

In the morning, after breakfast, you will go North over the famous ruta 40 direction Molinos. During the trip you will make some short stops and walks in the Quebrada de las Flechas. You will visit the village of Molinos. After lunch you will get to know one of the lesser known pearls of the Chalchaquíes valley, the lake Brealitos. Here you will make a light hike and the guide will serve you the typical Argentinean “merienda” (tea & sweets). You will arrive around 18 hours in the village of La Paya, where you stay and dine in a comfortable farmhouse with an excellent view over the mountains and valley.

Day 4 | La Paya – Salta

After breakfast you will go to Cachi, a beautiful village where you will spend the morning. At the end of the morning you head direction the National Park Los Cardones and the Valle Encantado. Here your guide offers you a real “almuerzo de campo” (farmers lunch) and you will make some hikes in the park. In the afternoon you will enjoy the great views of the Cuesta de Obispo, returning to Salta city. Here you will arrive early in the evening and the guide will bring you back to the hotel.
